- Nokia Federal Solutions is one of five organizations selected by National Spectrum Consortium for Advanced Dynamic Spectrum Sharing Demonstration (ADSSD), funded by the Department of War.
- The Advanced Spectrum Coexistence (ASC) Demonstration was created to boost spectrum resilience and US leadership in wireless technologies to enable efficient real-time spectrum sharing between 5G and government spectrum-dependent systems.
Nokia Federal Solutions today announced it has been selected by the National Spectrum Consortium (NSC) as one of five awardees for the Advanced Dynamic Spectrum Sharing Demonstration (ADSSD), now known as the Advanced Spectrum Coexistence (ASC) Demonstration. The program is funded through the Department of War (DoW) and aims to advance spectrum utilization between federal and commercial wireless networks.
The ASC Demonstration represents a critical step forward in demonstrating next-generation spectrum sharing technologies. As part of this initiative, Nokia Federal will advance spectrum-sharing capabilities between terrestrial systems, with expanded applications across airborne, maritime, and space domains. Nokia Federal will combine advanced sensing, dynamic spectrum decision function, and interference mitigation enhanced by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) to deliver a comprehensive end to end spectrum sharing capability. Subcontractors supporting this effort include Booz Allen Hamilton, RTX Corporation, AT&T and Spectrum Effect.
“This selection reinforces our commitment to delivering secure, resilient wireless capabilities in support of U.S. federal missions,” said Mike Loomis, Chief Executive Officer of Nokia Federal Solutions. “Through the ASC Demonstration, we’re bringing decades of radio innovation to help enable spectrum coexistence and strengthen national defense.”
“When implemented well, spectrum sharing can enable federal and commercial systems to coexist and bolster resilience in contested environments,” said Joe Kochan, CEO of the National Spectrum Consortium. “The ASC Demonstration marks a critical step in advancing these capabilities through real-world collaboration and innovation.”
The initiative builds upon years of technical dialogue within the NSC’s Partnering to Advance Trusted and Holistic Spectrum Solutions (PATHSS) working group. Through this collaboration between industry, academia, and government, the ASC Demonstration seeks to validate practical approaches to spectrum sharing and foster trust in coexistence technologies.
